(CNN) -- A woman not believed to be a hospital employee abducted an infant Thursday afternoon, according to a Pittsburgh hospital.

CNN affiliate WPXI said the 3-day-old baby was taken from Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC.

Wendy Zellner, a UPMC spokeswoman, told CNN the abduction occurred as the family was preparing for the infant to be discharged.

She said further details were not immediately available.

An employee at a uniform store told WPXI that a woman bought a scrubs top Thursday morning and told her she was to begin training at Magee that day.

Police officers spoke with the store employee, Autumn Bullion, who said she also was approached by a hospital official.

Hospital employees immediately notified police and implemented security procedures, according to Zellner.

CNN was attempting to reach Pittsburgh police.
