Sheffield's Don Valley Stadium is the starting point for day 39 of the Olympic torch relay as the flame travels from Sheffield to Cleethorpes.

Lucy Brunt, 13, from Sheffield, will be the first of 130 torchbearers and will complete a lap of the running track in the stadium to start the relay.

The flame will also visit a science centre and board a train for a journey on a light railway on Tuesday.

The route will cover 77 miles and the day will end at Meridian Park.

Ms Brunt was nominated to run at the home of Rotherham United football club for her courage and determination in coping with Down's Syndrome.

Later, poet and storyteller Debjani Chatterjee will carry the flame on a visit to the Magna Science and Adventure Centre in Rotherham. The centre was opened in 2001 and was built on the site of the Templeborough Steelworks, which was once the largest in the world.

At about 18:35 BST there will be a train journey for the flame as it is scheduled to take a trip on the Cleethorpes Light Railway.

The last torchbearer of the day will be World War II veteran Jack Andrew, aged 92, from Wakefield.

He was nominated for his passion for sport, which has driven him to coach local football and cricket teams and continue to play golf despite having both knees replaced.

Other torchbearers on the day include:

  • Ben Parkinson, 28, who will carry the flame in his home town of Doncaster. He joined the army at 16 and served in Iraq, Kosovo and Afghanistan where he was injured in 2006. He had both legs amputated and a brain injury meant he could no longer speak. After rehabilitation he is now speaking unaided and walks with crutches
  • James Needham, 28, an England wheelchair rugby gold medallist and teaches wheelchair skills to newly injured people, who will carry the torch in Doncaster
  • Sportsperson Chloe Birch, 16, from Preston, who has been playing badminton since she was eight and has been representing England since she was 11. She will carry the flame in Rotherham.

After the flame leaves Sheffield it will travel to Rotherham, Dalton, Thrybergh, Conisbrough, Warmsworth, Doncaster and Armthorpe.

It will then go to Dunsville, Hatfield, Scunthorpe, Brigg, Wrawby, Immingham and Grimsby before arriving in Cleethorpes at around 18:50 BST.

The evening celebration in Meridian Park will begin at 17:00 BST and feature a community street dance performance and a showcase of music from the East Coast Elite Brass and Percussion Corps, which is based in Grimsby.

London-based band Tribes and dance act Twist & Pulse will also perform.

A total of 8,000 people will carry the flame during its 8,000 mile, 70-day journey to the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in London on 27 July.
